What's The Matter With Oscar?

This book is about a child named Oscar who is experiencing trauma at home and how his teacher helps him through a difficult time. He’s a child who often express his pain through challenging behaviors at school. He isn’t “bad”; he is scared and overwhelmed. His teacher provides him a safe, predictable environment and teaches Oscar how to control his emotions with regulation tools (like the ‘Squeeze Cushion” or ‘Feelings Frog’). Ultimately, It does make a difference for Oscar.

A Note for Grown-Ups: If you are concerned about a child like Oscar, reach out to school counselors, a trusted teacher, or professional support services.
