“Kleptomaniac: Who’s Really Robbing God Anyway” is a thought-provoking and compelling book that delves into the contentious topic of tithing and religious giving, exploring its historical roots and its impact on modern-day beliefs and practices. Authored by Dr. Frank Chase Jr, this eye-opening work challenges readers to reevaluate their understanding of financial giving within a religious context.

The book takes readers on a journey through the origins of tithing, tracing Its roots back to ancient civilizations and religious traditions. Drawing from historical records and scriptural interpretations, the author presents a comprehensive analysis of how tithing has evolved over time and how it has been used to shape religious institutions and influence believers.
As the narrative unfolds, the author questions whether the conventional interpretations and applications of tithing align with the true teachings of spirituality and the essence of faith. By exploring various religious doctrines and theological perspectives, “Kleptomaniac” raises profound questions about the motivations and legitimacy behind monetary tithing and whether it is genuinely a selfless act of devotion or, in some cases, a mechanism for control and manipulation.

The book also delves into the financial implications of tithing, examining how religious organizations utilize the contributions they receive. The author investigates cases of financial misconduct within religious institutions and highlights instances where the resources donated by congregants may not be utilized as intended or advertised.

Throughout the book, personal anecdotes and real-life stories provide a human touch, illustrating the effects of tithing on individual lives and the complex emotions surrounding the act of giving. These accounts showcase the struggles, doubts, and triumphs of individuals as they navigate their spiritual journey, shedding light on the impact of financial giving on personal well-being and faith.

“Kleptomaniac: Who’s Really Robbing God Anyway” doesn’t merely criticize or condemn the practice of monetary tithing; it encourages readers to adopt a discerning mindset and engage in critical thinking. The author proposes alternative approaches to financial stewardship and explores the idea of giving based on a deeper understanding of one’s spirituality and purposse

The book traverses ancient biblical tithing texts to explore and uncover the historical origins and evolution of tithes and offerings by tracing its roots back to ancient times when it was a land-based system (crops and livestock) of support for biblical Levites and the poor and how that land-based tithing system morphed into a monetary tithing system to support religious institutions and clergy. Dr. Chase delves into the biblical texts and religious traditions, shedding light on tithing interpretations and misinterpretations that have shaped contemporary practices.

🧐What readers say about the book

This composition presents among the best insight on the hermeneutical fallacies of the New Testament teaching of the tithe. Dr. Chase presents a clear and precise response to every argument that falsifies the usage of Mal. 3:8-10 being bestowed unto the new covanent church age as well as repudiations of the pre-law argument of the Abraham and Melchizedek narrative. Dr. Chase also directs the readers to understand the tithe substance of the mosaic law was in fact for dietary food consumptions - justifying the argument based on the propositions of Penteteuch. Moreover, Dr. Chase implements a proper approach to systematic theology - differentiating between old and new covanents i.e. commands on monetary giving of the Israelites and the manner of income acquisition of the Levitical priest' as well as revealing the occupational duties of Levitical preists' civil duties being vastly different than that of New Testmant apostolic livelihood i.e. the monetary income that supported their ministries throughout the 1st century. This book presents among the best theological and historical arguments against the new Testament teaching of the tithe. Dr. Chase also has a YouTube channel which elucidates the content of this book - which I personally find beneficial. This composition is perfect for those who highly regard theological, hermeneutical, and historical approaches of interpreting scripture and is perfect for apologetically debunking the new testament tithe argument.
