“. . . the third riveting installment in a captivating series . . .”
—Review by Book Excellence (bookexcellence.com)

“The year is 2076, and Dog Breakfast is a covert group of highly trained individuals that aim to fight for good. A member of Dog Breakfast named Marija uncovers a sex-trafficking ring in Los Angeles, which is merely the tip of an iceberg of criminal activity that leads to Ecuador, with a detour to Tijuana, Mexico. Dog Breakfast may have top-notch capabilities, but the group “doesn’t have resources to mend every injustice.” The journey to Mexico is required to get their hands on new funds; their destination is an establishment called Bar Nada, a strip club that also hosts a lucrative fight club. Once business is settled in Bar Nada, the group aims to take on some even nastier types in South America. The narrative also includes additional storylines, including the recovery efforts of a girl named Raven Rocksong who survived a shipwreck and is undergoing tough training that will lead to Dog Breakfast membership. Along the way, there are many futuristic details (with many terms defined in a glossary), including aspects of life in the cylindrical habitats known as soupcans, where people live in orbit around the Earth . . . .”

“AFTERLIFE presents the reader with an intriguing and well-developed world. The book itself is extremely dense with information, but if the reader can get through that, then the moments of action and espionage are gems.”

🧐What readers say about the book

This is a thrilling police novel set in 2076. As expected of a futuristic action story, it's rife with intense action scenes. The main character, Marija, and her squad make for strong female characters, and the gangs are intimidating enough to be passable. However, the book shines best for its genre-blending. It incorporates tropes from detective movies, action, and sci-fi. The plot is unpredictable and fast-paced. I'd recommend this book.

About The Author

J. O. Quantaman

I live in Vancouver, BC, Canada. I drove a taxicab in the city for 27 years. I’m familiar with dealing with people, from crooks to celebrities. Before moving to Vancouver, I’ve traveled through nine of Canada’s ten Provinces. I’ve worked in factories, in crop fields, as a guide for sports fishers. I’ve attended three years of college and university.

___My hobbies are recreational mathematics and history, especially ancient history. I’m an avid hiker and cyclist. I read in the genres of historical fiction, science fiction, martial arts and police procedurals. Not surprisingly, I write in the same genres. My strongest concern is for ecological woes that humans are creating, so I write of a future where my characters must deal with an out-of-contrl climate, where extreme weather events have grown common.

___I’ve published three books of the Cool Assassins series: “Woke”, “Hot Wheels” & “Afterlife”. More are on the way. Get to know my likeable characters. You won’t regret it.
