The Green Living Guy is a graphic novel designed for elementary aged children to teach them about the threats of carbon emissions, the greenhouse effect that happening on Earth, and what steps people can take to reduce the pollution and waste on the planet. It goes into three different types of pollution: pollution in the seas, pollution in the air and deforestation. In simple terms the explanation of how solar energy works, including solar panels on houses and wind turbines is laid out in terms children can understand. It also goes into electronic vehicles and how EV and gas cars are different. I know this is specifically about helping the planet but explaining hybrid cars as an in-between point might have been good. There are probably more than a few kids whose parents own a hybrid car, and that could be a great tipping point to a conversation. I especially liked the conversation in here on deforestation and what kids can do to help with that. Tree saplings are easy to purchase and this is something that children can do to help. It also gives them a sense of accomplishment for doing their small part. Another section I liked was the regrowing of the coral reefs. Even I didnāt know about that! How wonderful is it that we can keep these colorful places from going extinct. All the panels are brightly colored and the wording is easy for children to follow along. The comic format makes it fun to read as well. The back part being a coloring book with the same pictures as the graphic novel that children can create their own colorful pages brings an interactive quality to the book. This is a wonderful book for libraries and schools to have, even the kidās section of bookstores or comic shops. An easy starting point to conversations about saving the planet for the next generations. I hope I see more copies of this book in the wild. Iām giving this book 4.5 stars for readability, attention grabbing and educational value. I received an advanced copy of this book for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Seth Leitman (The Green Living Guy) Author and Series Editor to McGraw-Hill on 9 books called the Green Guru Guides.
Seth worked for the New York State on green vehicle and transport programs, managing over $100 million for alternative fueled vehicle buses. Seth also worked green buildings, LEED and indoor air quality in schools. Then created and managed the NYPA/TH!NK Clean Commute Program which leased 100 electric vehicles in the New York Metropolitan Area.
He also is Managing Member for a green consulting company: ETS Energy Store, LLC and Program Manager for Drive Electric Hudson Valley.
